But, given that I was never in to music before hearing their groundbreaking album, I feel they earned that bias. They were also my first, and favourite, gig so there will always be nostalgia based bias for me. Radiohead was my first discovery of music and in a childhood where my peers were all about the Spice Girls and Boyzone, my dad’s constant playing of his OK Computer tape in the car meant that at birthday parties I craved Subterranean Homesick Alien over Wannabe. And, while Radiohead continue to be experimental and push the boundaries of music, OK Computer is so far their peak. Many artists, from Coldplay to Muse, have attempted to replicate the tone of late 90s Radiohead but none have succeeded. You could write exactly the same songs today and still, they would hit a nerve and make people sit up and think: ‘sh*t, they’re right.’ In 1997, the lyrics were providing an insight into what the turn of the millennium might bring. Si tratta della prima pubblicazione autoprodotta del gruppo, con laiuto di Nigel Godrich, ed è stato registrato nellOxfordshire e a Bath, e completato per la maggior parte nella storica mansione di St. OK Computer was all about the feelings – each song from the epic journey that was Paranoid Android to the haunting Exit Music For A Film hit us in the heart as well as the mind. OK Computer è il terzo album in studio del gruppo musicale britannico Radiohead, pubblicato il 21 maggio 1997 dalla Parlophone e dalla Capitol Records.
